ETBA Dick Counts Memorial Scholarship

East Texas Beekeepers Association Memorial Scholarship

In Honor of Richard “Dick” Counts

The East Texas Beekeepers Association Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of Richard “Dick” Counts, a founding member and devoted leader of the ETBA whose passion for beekeeping and education left a lasting impact on the East Texas community.

Dick Counts was not only instrumental in the creation and growth of the association, but also dedicated much of his life to teaching others about the importance of honey bees. He led trainings, built educational observation hives, and regularly shared his knowledge with schools, organizations, and fellow beekeepers.

This scholarship continues his legacy by supporting students who have a desire to learn, grow, and become active participants in the beekeeping community. Through this fund, recipients are given opportunities to further their education, gain hands-on experience, and develop a deeper understanding of beekeeping.

By investing in the next generation, the ETBA Memorial Scholarship honors Dick Counts’ lifelong commitment to mentorship, education, and the preservation of beekeeping for years to come.
